Check Out Spring 2017s Share Your Shutters Winner

Kimball Jones

Spring is blowing by here in Southern California, but don’t think we forgot about our regularly scheduled Share Your Shutters contest. Our winner for Spring is Tonya S., who shared a few photos of her home that truly show the benefit shutters can bring to a room.

closed shutters in dining room

Tonya’s house features some stunning new Polywood® plantation shutters in the dining room. Since those shutters are closed, you can really get a look at how much control plantation shutters really give you over your lighting. Imagine that dining room with a slightly softer light; it would be the perfect setting for an intimate candlelit dinner, right? With the right shutters in your home like Tonya has, you can express the mood you want no matter what it’s like outside.

Also of note is how the white shutters complement the white trim near the floors as well as the white ceiling. Those neutral tones make the black table and the wood floor’s texture stand out even more.

But that wasn’t her only photo submission. Below is another photo she submitted of her new sliding barn door shutter!

wood barn door shutter

There’s a number of reasons we love this barn door shutter. The first reason is that it looks fantastic. The homegrown look of the wood with that sleek jet black sliding track above give an enduring yet comfortable look. What we like even more than the shutters’ looks is how practical it is. The barn door shutter sits on top of the window frame, so it can control the light levels while still letting the window open and close.

Because the shutter sits on the front the frame, Tonya can still use her window sill. For instance, if she wanted to set a plant on the sill to get sunlight, she’s even able to close the shutter so it can soak up some rays while still blocking sun glare from outside.

Tonya tells us that this is the third time she’s chosen window treatments from Sunburst Shutters, and we want to thank her for repeatedly choosing us for all her window design needs. For being picked as our Share Your Shutters feature this quarter, Tonya will receive a $100 gift card to a local restaurant.

Think your shutters should be featured here? We want to see them! Share a photo of your shutters with the hashtag #ShareYourShutters, or upload a photo to our Facebook page. We’d love to showcase some shutters from a Californian in our next update!
