Congrats to the First Share Your Shutters Winner of 2017!

Kimball Jones

The new year means a new chance to upgrade your home design, and gorgeous new examples of shutters in homes in Southern California and across the country. That also means a new winner for our Share Your Shutters contest, and the first of 2017 is Katie S. of Elk Grove, California for her Polywood® plantation shutters.

Elk Grove in Northern California is just one of the many towns around the U.S. whose homes can benefit from Polywood shutters year-round. Even when not closed tightly like in Katie’s photo submission, plantation shutters block a good amount of outside light from entering the home. In Elk Grove or in Southern California, that’s a boon to any savvy homeowner who wants total light control in their space.

Plantation shutters also block heat, making them ideal for homeowners who experience blistering summers or cold winters, or who just want to max out their home’s energy efficiency. That means a cozier home and cash back in your pocket every month with lower energy bills.

Katie’s new shutters also capitalize on some newer home design trends. Neutral-toned settings such as her brown wall are becoming extremely popular, with contrasting splashes of colors–in Katie’s example the white of the Polywood shutters–working as points of interest throughout the space. Offered in various white and off-white colors, plantation shutters can fill a nice niche in modern interior design.

As the winner of our Share Your Shutters contest, Katie will receive a $100 gift certificate to a nearby restaurant, and will have her plantation shutters featured with our past winners.
